Evaluation Question 2
i chose to use prezi as it made presenting my comparisons interesting and effective.
i also used photoshop to specifically pinpoint my points to the pictures.

Evaluation Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Elements within my music video
Written on hand element
In this tubechop, I show how Daft Punks video ‘Daft Hands-Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ has influenced the shot in my music video with the ‘written on hand’ element, used to capture the viewers attention and can easily relate to the already famous and successful Daft Punk video.
However, the genre of Daft Punks music video is different, similar conventions are used within the rock/pop genre, for example the rocket summer used written on hands for effect, however there was no movement of the hand within their shots shown in the tubechop below.
Close up on ukulele playing influence
(Also cut off face influence but in this video its upside-down)
the tubechops of the viral video for 'cheatercheaterbestfriendeater' give a good indication of where i got ideas for my music video and some conventions of the genre of music, for example the close ups of the instrument getting played are a very stereotypical to the rock/pop/acoustic genre
whilst the 'extreme close up' which actually cuts off the top of the face is used here to make the character on his chin come to life, whilst in my video, this effect is used to challenge the normal close up used in all music videos, however the use of the face being upside down in this video is an effect i didn't use, as the character that is presented on the chin contrasts the video i created.
Signs Influence
The use of signs within my music video which is a very easy way of highlighting key aspects of phrases within songs , however, within my music video, i have used them to highlight key phrases following the convention but also used them to illustrate feelings conveyed within the song, making my video have a very scrapbook, doodle feel to it. below is a video to show the very stereotypical usage of signs within music videos
Bob Dylan -Subterrainian homesick blues
and below this, to show how i am following my genre conventions, here is another song by nevershoutnever called 'what is love' where the usage of signs is also apparent.
Stop Motion Rain Influence
the use of stop motion within music videos is very widely used, as it is eyecatching and also takes a lot of time effort and skill to do, which gives my music video the feel of being a real music video as it uses this technique, and also gives the music video the same lighthearted feel that the music gives off. one stop motion sequence that influenced me is in the tubechop below.
Lighting/Visual Effects Influence
the slightly darkened lighting with a partially desaturated effect is a very typical feature of rock music videos, as the shots show a large contrast between light and dark, giving a surreal twilight effect, much like a never ending sunset. in my video, i took a slight bit more colour out of the effect for some shots, to emphasise the sad truth within the lyrics. the stereotypical effect is shown in the tubechop i have below.
and also this effect is acknowledged as a way to sort of gloss a final video giving it a very professional look, which can be seen within the amateur music video below, that looks as if it could be a real music video.
Clothing Influences
as far as clothing style goes, i tried to keep up with the original bands clothing style, as it was very similar to mine and fit in well with what i was doing. both actors used clothing which was quite plain, as it is meant to convey a style that overtly shows off, which is very similar to the topshop style, which is why most of my clothing used in the music video was bought there. although, i tried to fit the style to that of nevershoutnevers singer, Christofer Drew, shown below.
Elements within my Ancilliary Products
within my digipak, i used a very standard layout for a 6 panel digipak, and the images within the digipak with the panels came from the influence of the kings of leon, with a a 4x4 tile pattern of many different pictures, that give a feel for what the artist is like, for example, guitars, girls, and faces, giving a very vintage touring feel. shown below.
another aspect of my digipak was the front cover, which has two influences, one was that of chase coy's 'picturesque' album cover, which is very plain with the background blurred out, and the other of nevershoutnever's 'me and my uke' EP. both influences give a clear indication of what my genre is as both influences are of the same genre, both images are shown below
After completing my digipak, i decided to do my poster to have the same conventions, such as the tiled background, and colour scheme, aswell as using the same fonts. a stereotypical layout for posters, which is the album cover in the middle of the poster with text around it is the style i used as it is very plain, simple and effective. i got this idea from the posters below, all using a similar layout but with different effects, to fit in with the album they are promoting:
